When your mom is allergic to pine, you don't get a real tree each year, or the fresh smell, but you do get an amazing sense of continuity and fun when it is the very same tree when you are one, and that you loaned to the grade school for a play prop in 4th grade and thAt you put up alone at 34 when your mom was too incapacitated by grief and your Dad was dying in a hospital bed beside it. The same tree five years later with your kids gathered around.
@francoise no, just when I was eight I got a little camera, but our living room was too small to get far enough away to get the entire tree in one picture.
