Mattie’s Custard Cups

For years I tried to get up early enough to make it to Mattie’s pancake house before the custard cups sold out for the Sunday. Now she sold her restaurant and they no longer make this comfort food but she slipped me the recipe on a torn scrap of cardboard on her way out the door.

Wow you are so lucky! I love a custard tart as we call them when they have a pastry case. Love that nutmeg on the top….makes all the difference! I might try them like this as it’s the custard bit I like best.
