Bankfield Museum

Heavy rain all day so visited the Bankfield museum in Halifax, this is looking down the grand staircase to the front entrance, set in mable and the decorations are inspired by the frescoes of Pompeii and Herculaneum, It was built in 1800 and was the home of wealthy mill owner Edward Akroyd MP, he sold the house in 1887 to Halifax Corporation for £6,000.00 it was immediately turned into a museum and a branch library'

What a stunning building. I really like the rich tones of the decoration.

@jorlam Thank you for your comments Jorlam as you know it was a rubbish day for photography hence the trip to the museum, I got the perspective right but the colours and detail were lost due to the poor light and the use of flash forbidden, hence the high ISO1250:)
