Protest Camp RAF Scampton

Protesters outside the main gate of old RAF Scampton, protesting against the Home Office’s plans to house 2,000 asylum seekers in the buildings at the former airbase near Lincoln. all the protester where sheltering from the galeforce winds and rain at the time of this shot.

@365projectorgheatherb Thank you Heather for your comment, yes its very controversial, the base has planning permission granted for a 300 million pound technology park and a housing development, now on hold by the UK goverment, as they now going to house asylum seekers there:)

@onewing Yes indeed happier times for sure, the Red Arrows were based at Scampton until October 2022 when they moved up the road to RAF Waddington:)

@Weezilou Thank you Louise for your comment your absolutely right currently in the UK we have 93,296 people seeking asylum as a refugee in the year ending September 2023 plus 52,530 illegal immigrants detected entering the UK in small boats in the same period, similar numbers for 2020 and 2022:)
