Lockgate Art

Adding a splash of colour to one of the Brighouse Basin lockgates, this was painted by Leeds profesional artist Nikita Spires, fortunately she had signed the work, Nikita has lots of great tutorials on youtube showing how to draw and paint see link. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdjEFwphRW1lPEuJxf-jwQw
A lovely design. I prefer this type of public art, so often our murals are too frantic and wild for me. Does that mean I’m getting old? Ha!

How lovely that looks, it sure brightens up the lock.

@365projectorgheatherb Thank you for your comment Heather this type of artwork was seen and is still seen decorating the canal boats, so suspect that’s why Nikita choose to paint it on the lock gate beams:)
