Actually I read (on here??) that you should take pictures of a full moon the night before it's actually at it's fullest. Maybe that's true with half-moons too. ?? I love these shots you get at night - you should advertise to NASA! :)
Wow, do I need to check tineye.com to see if you stole this?? It's amazing Peggy. You can even see all of the craters. Beautiful, perfect, FAVE!! I still don't know what they're going to teach you in a class. You have "the eye" my friend.
@petersonsheri Thanks for the fav, Sheri! Trust me, you faved an original. Heh heh. I'm hoping in the classes I take I will learn what I did to get this shot. :)
@evadavis Thanks, Eva! You can get the specifics of each photo by clicking on the 'View Exif info' link under the Details heading. The only details I can add are that I use a tripod, I sit outside in the freezing cold flipping through all the settings on my camera; @isisweiss ~ I use my p & S Panasonic Lumix with x18 zoom lens; and I take a zillion shots until I find the right setting. When I do finally find the right one and the moon comes into such great focus, I smile and say thank you.
@pontiaclady Thanks, Cheryl ~ I think the blue tint is probably a result of this shot being taken early enough in the evening that there was still relatively blue sky...I shadowed the background after the fact to make the moon stand out. I'm such a rank amateur that I'm totally unfamiliar with tungsten. :)
Will have to try one myself but fear I don't have enough zoom on my lens to get a good shot.
Thanks for the lovely comments, everyone ~ I do appreciate the time it takes. These moon shots always surprise me, too!

Thanks, Pam, Paula, Terry and Andria ~ sometimes I get lucky. :)
