Early Morning Snowfall by peggysirk

Early Morning Snowfall

It's snowing...again. I think this is the fourth snowfall we've had this winter. I know everyone in colder climates is probably sick of snow shots. But, it's still a big deal here in the South.

I'm behind a day with posting so this is posted as yesterday. But it really is snowing today. :)
Love this! The snowfall looks gooooooood :)

Love it. Was bout to do yesterday too :-) btw Mom and Christine getting tons of snow --one in TN and one in Miss. They too find it a big deal! So glad it's just rain here--But news just said some of the burbs are getting flurries.

Nice shot, Peggy. This will serve as a reminder to you years from now of the "winter of 2011". It's been a doozy!

Very dreamy shot! I like it! Snow is beautiful while it's falling, that's for sure! :)
February 10th, 2011
I'm from snow country, but I never tire of seeing great shots of snow. It really is beautiful and you took an excellent picture.
February 10th, 2011

February 10th, 2011
Really lovely image. - Well done capturing a really low light silhouette.

Great shot Peggy. Did you use flash? I always like a good winter shot.
February 10th, 2011
Rather beautiful shot.
February 10th, 2011
very beautiful
February 10th, 2011
Nice shot! Snow can show up in so many different ways on photos. This is beautiful.
February 10th, 2011
Lovely shot with the ghost-y tree in the background. I still get such a charge out of snow.
February 10th, 2011
Magical, beautiful, spectacular shot!
February 10th, 2011
Stunning shot, Peggy. The flakes look like fairy lights in the darkness.
February 10th, 2011
Very pretty, but I am sure you are ready for it to be OVER!! Lots of snow today? We are driving to the Charlotte airport tomorrow . . .
February 11th, 2011
I still like it, it makes for a cool shot when the snow hits the lens.
February 11th, 2011
lovely shot!!
February 11th, 2011
@chamrick No problems. We had zero accumulation. Tommorow is supposed to be sunny and in the low 50's. :) Good luck with your race!

Thanks for the lovely comments, everyone! It's a good thing I got out early this morning to take this photo. We had about a 30 minute snow flurry. :) Just long enough for me to snap a few shots and discover that during the night bandits made off with the planters on either side of my front door. They each had a cute little evergreen tree that were doing so well. :( It wasn't long ago that my bird feeder was ripped off. Seriously, I can see my car being stolen...but planters and bird feeders? The perils of urban living. Sorry about the rant ~ I've been fuming all day. :)
February 11th, 2011
Sorry to hear that!! That is just WRONG! :(
February 11th, 2011
@pfmandeville Thanks, Pam! It felt good to unload. :)
February 11th, 2011
@peggysirk _ I'd be ranting about that too! That's so ridiculous for someone to steal planters and a bird feeder!
February 11th, 2011
Nice shot, sorry to hear about the stealers....
February 11th, 2011
That is so awful Peggy (about the planters, I mean)! Sounds like you're being targeted.
February 11th, 2011
@smith Thanks for the comments, Bob. Yes, I did use a flash. It was still pretty dark out. I loved the way the flash was lighting up the snowflakes...I took a ton of shots just because I was having so much fun with my little light show.
February 11th, 2011
@girlie Thanks for commiserating, Robin. I think the neighborhood has been targeted by landscape thieves...my immediate next door neighbors had their patio umbrella and a small fountain stolen a couple of weeks ago. Another neighbor had some patio furniture taken. It's ridiculous.
February 11th, 2011
beautiful!
February 11th, 2011
Lovely shot.
February 11th, 2011
Sorry to hear about your planters. When I lived in New Orleans I had two hibiscus plants dug out of the ground!! and stolen.....it baffles me what some people will do.
February 11th, 2011
Peggy - you are fully entitled to a rant, and you're being particularly polite about it.
February 11th, 2011
Good grief Peggy - do you think our tree vandal has bunked off to N Carolina? Nowhere is safe from mindless crime - we once gas a plant dug up from our front garden - less frustrating than breaking my tree as hopefully it was replanted but still annoying that you can't put something on your property without chaining it down.
February 11th, 2011
Had a plant dug up - my iPhone's gone mad again!
February 11th, 2011
This picture is so beautiful, whether I'm tired of snow or not. I love the dark shadowy background with the big white blobs in front of it. It really is pretty. I'm so sorry that some thug is stealing from you. And what odd things to steal. It isn't like they can take them to a pawn shop for a quick sale. Very sad really. I'm sure that you are the kind of person that would rather give someone a few dollars for a meal than have them steal something from you. What buggers!!

Thanks for your comments, ladies. It was my kind of snowfall ~ short and sweet. Maybe the last hurrah as temps are supposed to be near 70 degrees (21 C) by the end of next week.
I've calmed down and accepted the loss of my planters. I'll be replacing them in a couple of weeks with new ones and warm weather plantings...but I kind of feel like I'll be putting them out there saying "hey, you like these better"? I will get the cheap, made to look like real, fake stone planters. Of course, that'll just make them easier to carry off....Oh well. :)

February 12th, 2011
Very pretty Peggy, I'm so over snow but your picture makes it looks so peaceful and almost magical. So sorry to hear about those creeps taking off with your planters...what the heck is wrong with people who do this anyway? Sheesh, go figure!
February 12th, 2011
This is so pretty!
February 12th, 2011
Wow, I love this. Very dramatic and doesn't at all make me sick of the snow; this is fanciful!
