Americana

After a haircut at Ruth's, this young baseball player is off to the game. Ruth's is the home of the $10 haircut, 20% off for veterans, police officers and fire fighters. :)

Love that you captured this slice of life!

Great candid shot. I love the woman checking out the baseball player . . . perhaps Mom? (Our local $10 haircut spot for men is called Jude's. They used to serve a free beer with your haircut until the authorities decided that wasn't such a good idea.)

Is that Ruth watching him walk away? Great capture, Peggy and, yes, real Americana.

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave such nice comments, everyone. I've been AWOL from 365 for a couple of days and really missed being in touch with all of my talented "peeps" across the globe. With only 27 days left in my project I'm beginning to wonder what I'll do when my year is up. 365 has become an enjoyable part of my daily routine. I love checking in to see what everyone has been up to each day.

Terry ~ the 20% discount applies to all services...mani/pedi, brow waxing, facials...so keep Ruth's in mind if you're ever in the area. :)

Barb and Robin ~ Actually, the woman in the doorway is Crystal (Crys), one of the three stylists at Ruth's. There is no actual Ruth ~ at least not any more. This building was constructed in the 1930's and was home to the original Ruth's salon. Her granddaughter and her family live on the second floor and reopened the hair salon about a year ago. They have plans to eventually open a coffee shop in the space next to the salon. I'm looking forward to that addition. :)

@happypat Thanks, Pat...you were commenting as I posted this response and I missed adding your name to the thank you above. :)

At first glance it looks so Norman Rockwell...then I noticed the locking security gates and it seemed like a sad commentary. Very nicely captured, Peggy.

@bpaquette Thanks for commenting, Barbara. For quite some time the entire lower level of this building was used as a storage area for the owner's landscaping business. Lots of expensive tractors, lawnmowers and the like were held there...the bars were installed at that time. This being an urban area, security is always an issue. I live a few blocks away and the bird feeder in my yard and planters on my stoop have been stolen. :) Things more valuable, unfortunately, require strong security measures.
