A few days ago Molly and I bought some delicious cupcakes from Cupcake Delirium. I bought this one for the sole purpose of photographing it for 365 on a slow day. It's been in the freezer waiting for it's photo shoot. The Elvis is a banana cupcake with peanut butter icing topped with candied bacon. Kinda scary ~ I'm just not so sure about that flavor combination. :)
Very pretty cupcake, but I'm not sure about the flavor combination either. Yikes! Bacon and peanut butter? Ewwwww. Great planning on your part! Well done.
You know, bacon can do wonderful things! (Spoken from the woman who has "I Love Bacon" next to "The Vegan Table" on her cookbook shelf!)The banana cake and pb frosting would definitely be a keeper. It's a great shot, Peggy. The bees are such a nice touch along with the shades of gray on the tablecloth. Is that a tablecloth or did you process that in? Anyway, good for you to have a photo idea in your back pocket. (Glad you're up and at 'em today.)
Peggy...you know A Mother's Day card would be a good place for you to stick a Memory card of your pictures and mail to your mom to view in the digital frame.....I mailed one :-) And a lil birdie told me she hasn't gotten ANY pics from you :-0
@barbsmith I thought about you and your "I Love Bacon" cookbook when I posted this photo, Barb! Actually, those bees are printed on a bright white linen kitchen towel that I bought the same day as the cupcakes. I guess the shading is the result of subtle shadows that I didn't notice but the camera did. :) Feeling much better ~ thanks!!
Well it makes a very beautiful photo and I'd be prepared to test it out!! You folks eat bacon with maple syrup so this just gives you one of your 5 a day at the same time! :0) The bees are lovely!
Thanks for taking the time to comment, everyone. I'll be happy to put this cupcake back in the freezer if anyone wants to come over and try it! I'm not brave enough. Think I'll stick with the double chocolate ones. :)
Ooh those are different flavours for sure ! I would love to know how it tastes, are you going to be brave & do the research by eating it ? It is very beautiful but you can't waste it !!!
@happypat@bpaquette Thanks for the comments, Pat and Barbara! How 'bout I split it between you and send half to Lancashire and the other half to New York. :)
I would have eaten it in under two seconds flat!!! That's got to be my favorite cupcake in the world! We have a place here (well near here) and they make the best peanut butter icing in the world...OMG! YOU are bad....you just made me drool all over my laptop!
Love your shot of the cupcake and I also love peanut butter and bananas, so the cupcake sounds yummy to me. Just not the bacon part. That would have to go.
I love your picture! Someone else posted a photo of a maple cupcake with bacon on top. Bacon is suddenly very vogue and being used in so many strange ways. (Can you tell I watch Food Network?)
@lisjam1 Thanks, Lisa ~ I'm a Food Network fan myself. And I think bacon can add a lot to certain foods. But cupcakes seem like an unlikely candidate. :)
What a beautiful shot. I doubt I would ever eat it. BUT it would be my hubby's dream come true. Peanut butter and bacon are 2 of his favorite foods. If I let him he would eat nothing but bacon.
Oh, Peggy, I just want you to take one BIG bite of this cupcake! Chew and swallow it, and tell us how it was. Poor cupcake wants to be eaten. It sounds like a Snickers bar...sweet and salty.
This is the third time this week that I have seen bacon on sweets. Is there some kind of bacon celebration I'm missing out on? Yesterday a local television show had a baker on who made long johns with maple frosting and smoked apple bacon. I just couldn't imagine!! You did a lovely job of photographing it though, but I'm with you, I would stick with the double chocolate!!
That is an...interesting...combo. Lovely shot, for sure, but I have to say, the ingredient list isn't doing anything for my taste buds. :) hope you enjoyed it!

Thanks for the comments, all! I think the consensus on the Elvis cupcake is a big "yuck"...with the exceptions of Ginger and Amber's hubby. :)
looks good
but how did it taste?
