This guy was happily helping himself to the cat food I put out for Scrappy's ferel friend, Pax...until the lady with the camera came along. He's giving me a rather hostile look and refusing to give it up. I'm not sure if those gnarly appendages are considered hands or feet, but for the purpose of this week's theme I'm calling them feet. :)
Oh Peggy - you are a brave soul - I am petrified of opossums. We had a rabid one by our front door for a couple days when my children were little. This closeup just intensifies my feelings!!! But, well done!
This just makes me smile! A scene like this is repeated nightly at my California back door, and some of the smaller ones are "cute in a possum sort of way".... And the reason there's cat food at the back door? We feed ferel friends, too. Been out in our yard for years and we can't pet them, but they come for dinner on a regular basis...in all, just God's little creatures getting by with some help from their friends!
What a great capture! Your possums are so different from ours, as you've commented before. This one has a cute sort of attraction of its own; so mean-looking in its own way. And those claws are not to be messed with!
Those claws are pretty gnarly looking and this guy looks like he would fight you for that food bowl. Peyton and Cooper would have liked to get an up close look at this guy.
Oh wow, this would have me screaming I think, fabulous shot, how you did it I'm not sure, I would have been running the other direction...creepy lil guy but love it all the same :)
Oh my word - he's not exactly cute is he? We don't do Possums here- they have a cute name but I'm thinking more large rat and now @bpaquette isn't helping!! Cool night shot though - looks like you've been hanging out with Navy Seals or some such! (Now there's a thought!)
I thought it was a hedge hog at first as we aren't used to possums !! I have only ever seen a dead one in the road in NZ before so wasn't sure !! Great night shot though ..did your camera flash & frighten him ?
