Yesterday as my husband, Tom, was walking to the train station to go to work, he was hit by a car. He was knocked to the pavement, his messenger bag went skidding through the intersection, and traffic came to a stand still. Paramedics, the Fire Dept., and the police were on the scene in minutes. He spent about a half hour in the back of the ambulance being thoroughly checked out while the police investigated the incident and wrote up an accident report. I had no idea what had happened until he came home that afternoon and said, "Guess what happened to me on the way to work this morning..." !!! Sheesh! Thankfully all he suffered was a skinned up knee. I married a tank. :)
Judith Greenwood / judithg ~ Sorry, Judith, I deleted that first post because I hadn't added the narrative before I accidently posted the photo. Tom is fine. I'm amazed and very thankful! :)
wow Peggy i saw the 1st post & was wondering what happened how bad etc & didnt know what to post. Glad hes Ok & built like a tank :) Hope your recovered too :)
Oh dear Peggy that is terrible & I'm so glad your Tom is OK but he must be shocked !! He did well to stay at work all day after that but might suffer from a bit of delayed shock yet !!! Perhaps a good job you didn't know until afterwards !
OMG !!!!!!!!!!!! I had to fave this, you are the funniest woman on earth. We people of 365 have no shame. Your husband gets hit by a car and you run for your camera sensing a great post opportunity here. LOL Then you look over your shoulder and say, " oh honey are you ok?" as you are running out the door. LOL LOL LOL I am glad he is ok, thanks for make me belly laugh for a half an hour
Yikes! How scary. Glad Tom is ok. I'm thinking it's a good thing you didn't know until much later. Sometimes ignorance can be blissful. And - good job with the recreation. Perhaps there's a job waiting for you in accident investigations??
@happypat Thanks, Pat! I probably would have found out sooner if Tom had torn his suit trousers and had to come home to change...but everything was still in one piece, clothing and person, so off to work he went. :)
@happypat Pat ~ I almost forgot to mention that my Liz Earle products arrived yesterday! You were so right...they are marvelous! LOVE everything I ordered. I'm actually looking forward to washing my face tonight. :)
@sarasdadandmom Terry, when Tom came home from work and told me about the incident I was stunned, then incredibly thankful...and when the shock wore off I have to admit that I thought about what an interesting photo it would have been to get a shot of him sitting in the back of the ambulance with an ice pack on his leg. :) Seriously, I'm very grateful that I can joke about it. We were very, very lucky!
This is a very professional looking recreation, Mom! I am just so thankful that Dad wasn't hurt. There was another story about a pedestrian struck on the Observer website today. It's crazy out there!
Wow, that's a heckuva story to tell your wife when she says "hi honey, how was your day?". I'm glad he's okay and you've maintained your sense of humor.
wow! good shot and a great 'save' for tom ;)
this one is for keeps- a subtle reminder to be thankful for each day, specially if you have lasted the day ;)
@barbsmith Barb, I used icons from the 'stickers' application in Picnik to do the graphics. Thought I'd have a little fun with it before Picnik leaves the scene. :(
Oh dear! Glad it was no worse ......but it's a scary thing to think about!
We had one like that - result broken leg. But he was young and now none the worse. Cycles 50 miles without thinking about it!
Clever photo!
@smith Bob...it was the last thing Tom expected when he walked out the door that morning...and the last thing I expected when he said, "Guess what happened to me on the way to work this morning". He was crossing the street in the pedestrian crosswalk with the light and a driver making a left hand turn clipped him. The driver had to have been distracted with his phone or coffee or whatever...Tom was in the middle of the intersection with the right of way where there is a lot of pedestrian activity. Anyway, we are feeling very fortunate that it wasn't worse. He attributes the fact that he escaped unscathed to "clean living". Yeah, right. :)
@kanika Thanks, so much, Kanika. I agree with you ~ I saw this incident as a big reminder to be incredibly grateful for each and every new day! A total epiphany moment. And thank you for the fave and the follow! I enjoy meeting new people in this wonderful 365 community. :)
@sarah19 Thanks for the kind words, Sarah! I'm so glad your accident victim has recovered so beautifully! It's never a good thing when a car meets up with a pedestrian...Tom was a very lucky guy! :)
Oh thank goodness for that!!! My friend's husband was in the road tending to an injured person recently and was struck at 60mph knocking him 100 yards along the road. By some small miracle he later drove home but was pretty poorly with nasty bruising for a few days afterwards and is still feeling the knocks a few weeks on. (I don't know all the back story about why he was in the road- I keep up with her on FB and I couldn't pester too much while he was ill). I thought of that when I saw this - thank goodness these men are made of steel - I believe a few days of being waited on hand and foot did a lot for recovery!
