Yesterday's forecast turned out to be much ado about nothing...which is often the case when it comes to snow in this part of the planet. We did get three inches of rain and very high winds. With all of the huge old trees around here, high wind is generally a problem ~ with limbs falling on power lines. We lost cable and Internet connection early, followed by total loss of electricity around midnight. It was restored just in time for morning coffee. :) Today is sunny (finally), cold, and soggy.
Three good things:
1. Sunshine
2. All checks on my 'to-do' list for today
3. Eggplant Parmesan for dinner
Send some rain our way to quench all the bushfires that are burning down people's houses, please Peggy! At least it's cooled down quite a bit in Melbourne again, unlike here. And if you can organise someone to pick them up for you, I have two bucketloads of eggplants from my garden that need using...
First, I vote that we all head on down to Robin's @girlie with a bucket load of water. That area is so incredibly beautiful, I hate the thought of fire destroying any of it.
Three inches really is a LOT of water. If that would have been snow, it would have been incredible! I love your rain gauge, and you captured it beautifully too. :) We were a lovely (almost) 40 degrees today (F), but are headed way below zero for the weekend. Brrr!!! Soup time again.
@petersonsheri Thanks, Sheri, I knew I could rely on you for a good idea! But at least the countryside comes back better than ever after a fire. Just a tragedy that people's houses also go up in smoke. Funny that you're having 40 F and we're having 40C...
@girlie I like @petersonsheri Sheri's idea...I could bring water and take home some of your eggplant! I do hope you get some much needed rain soon and a break from the heat! The weather looks fabulous in Melbourne today ~ tomorrow actually. I'm sure the players are happy about that.
@petersonsheri Sheri ~ If the temperature had dropped early enough as had been forecast, we would have ended up with about 2 1/2 feet of snow. :) Stay warm this weekend. Sounds like soup weather to me!
@sarasdadandmom We're incredibly fresh smelling down this way, Terry. :) We had 3" of rain yesterday, and probably another several inches over the past 3 or 4 days. It was good to see the sun today!
