Caught this setting moon early this morning as it was dropping behind the house across the street. Not the best quality shot, but I was working without coffee. :)
Three good things:
1. It's Tom's birthday today
2. It's an amazingly gorgeous late-January day...sunny and 70 (21C) degrees
3. Steaks on the grill and blue cheese wedge salads tonight ~ the birthday boy's choice. I'm on board with that. :)
Wonderful composition! The moon is a great subject, but sometimes it's more fun when it shares the photo with something else. Just love roof and chimney silhouette! (Happy birthday, Tom! Great dinner choice!)
Fabulous catch and I love the angle. Congratulations, Tom and Happy Birthday. And nothing like a salad with bleu cheese. Had one for lunch with blueberries, strawberries, Spring salad mix and walnuts....yum!
Happy Birthday Tom! I'm sure it's only a couple of moths since it was his last birthday! I can't believe the weather you're having - we would be happy with that in June. And a beautiful moon to boot.
A very Happy Birthday Tom! Lovely early morning shot...I keep expecting Scrappy to appear over the roof tops!! Fabulous moon markings too. Have a great meal!
Another fabulous moon shot to add to your collection. Love the silhouette of the roof and chimney. Happy Birthday, Tom. I imagine there will be some nice red wine to accompany those steaks!
I watched the moon as it was rising low last night... Extra point to you for catching it early this morning! Lovely composition to make the moon look all the bigger!
Hope you and Tom had a wonderful day!!! You must have been quick to snap this shot - the moon seems to set so quickly when it is near the horizon...you can almost see it move. Love the deep deep blue in this.
Great contrast of the black and white against the blue sky. 70 degrees and sunny - just a question - because that kinda temperature seems foreign to me for a while. We are heading to Arizona on Saturday and the weather is saying mid 70 degrees and sunny. Not sure if I should be packing capri pants or long pants. Our temperatures here make it difficult to think warm. Refresh my memory Peggy
@dora Have a fabulous time in Arizona, Dora! Where in AZ are you going? I checked the forecast in Phoenix and, yes, it's supposed to be sunny and in the 70's, but I saw low readings in the 50's. Therefore, my suggestion is both capris and a pair of long pants for the slightly cool nights. I saw that Flagstaff, AZ is actually going to have lows in the teens...but, of course, that's a much higher elevation. I remember seeing snow in Flagstaff in June.
@peggysirk Thanks Peggy we are going to Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tucson. I have been to Flagstaff as well with lots of snow. We do hope to take a dsy or two in Sedona. So I guess a combination of both pants should work.
