I took this shot a year or so ago when Tom and I were returning from a trip up to the Blue Ridge Mountains. This is the area of Interstate 77, right outside of Fancy Gap, VA near the Virginia/North Carolina state line, where there was a horrible series of accidents involving 95 cars and trucks on Easter Sunday due to rain and foggy conditions. This southbound stretch of highway is coming out of the mountains on an incredibly steep grade, complete with runaway truck exits, where it is virtually impossible to come to a quick stop. Sunday's massive pileup must have been a nightmarish experience.
Posting early with somewhat of a downer filler shot on an otherwise totally up day. Going to the Eric Clapton concert tonight. My sister-in-law is arriving from Hilton Head this afternoon to go with us. She's a huge Clapton fan too.
Three good things:
1. Eric Clapton's guitar talent
2. Having my sister-in-law, Kat, visit
3. Tom's taking tomorrow off from work to recuperate from a late night tonight...that's how Baby Boomers do concerts :)
This is scary looking! Hope you have a marvelous time at the concert! I would melt if he played "Wonderful Tonight" - that is Mike's and my favorite song. I can so relate to 3.
Very atmospheric shot. When I viewed it large, I found myself bringing my face right up to the photo, trying to see into the fog like I was driving! Sad, eh? Hope you enjoyed Eric and number 3 is what I have to do after a night out too!
Scary place Peggy & that was a terrible accident, we saw it in England on the news! Really brings it home to you when you see this stretch of road like this how dangerous fog is.
have a wonderful time at the Eric Clapton concert...lucky you!!! Hope you got a photo!!!
Very atmospheric shot. Wow, that is a bit scary to be driving at night. I took my daughter to NYC for her 16th birthday in the 80s and came back through the Blue Ridge Parkway. I was so excited by all the views, we almost had an accident. My daughter will vouch for that ......LOL! How cool to be seeing an Eric Clapton concert.......enjoy!!
Lol, on good thing number 3!! Seriously, it is so scary when conditions make it next to impossible to see on the road. I’m never sure if I should keep the pace, slow down or pull over. Any choice could be deadly if the others on the road are making the opposite ones.
have a wonderful time at the Eric Clapton concert...lucky you!!! Hope you got a photo!!!
