I got my elderly neighbor Anita's front steps and walkway temporarily cleared of snow and another neighbor, Joyce, appeared with a big bucket of Ice Melt to help keep them clear...thank you, Joyce! I wasn't looking forward to having to do a repeat clearing with a broom and a garden shovel. No one around here owns a nice flat snow shovel. :)
Three good things:
1. Once-in-a-decade winter storms
2. A gas range...I'll be cooking my corned beef later this afternoon whether the power goes out or not. :)
3. A texted photo just now from my daughter of my sweet granddaughter Harper and the 'snow watching tent' she made on top of her bedroom window seat. So darn cute and perfect timing for my third good thing. :)
Wow - it's coming down! Community action is SO important. We don't really have a culture of clearing communal paths here (mostly because USUALLY it melts quite quickly) and they have become treacherous in the last few years. Nobody has proper shovels here either - I usually do my bit by sending Nigel and Adam out ;0) Glad Harper's enjoying it!
I've been hearing about all the winter storms in the deep south and I can see that in your power. We're supposed to get some heavy rain later today and the temps will dip from the 80s to lows in the 30s and 40s the next couple days. C-R-A-Z-Y weather. Like you, I am grateful to have a gas range just in case power goes out. Lovely photo of all that snow fall and how nice to have kind neighbors.
I can't fathom not owning a snow shovel or two! I also can't fathom trying to clear steps with a broom and a garden shovel, but you're so kind to go to great lengths to help an elderly neighbor. I hope you get enough snow that Harper can come out of her snow watching tent and make a snow angel to two!
I love the falling snow in this. Such a lovely thing when neighbours help each other out. Your 3 good things sound very good to me!

@linnypinny Charlotte is right on the state line of NC/SC...so we're actually a little south of you. But I think the weather system is staying to your east and won't be a problem for you. I have relatives in the Nashville area that were very disappointed about missing out on the big snow event!! :)
@lisabell We have about 6 inches of snow with a couple more inches expected today. Harper is loving the snow!! Her daddy made her a sled out of a plastic laundry basket and she was having a blast!
@peggysirk Yes, I'm on my way to work now and everything is fine here..thanks for sending good thoughts our way! And it is funny how my family and friends are divided on the snow issue...some love..some hate! Everyone stay safe in your area!
