Two less than good photos of Ceol na Gael - an Irish pipe band. The really bad phone photo was taken last night. Tom and I were walking home from dinner when the beautifully haunting sound of bagpipes caught my full attention. Tom was anxious to get home in time for his college basketball team's tip off, so I went in search of the bagpipes on my own. I found them practicing in the parking lot of the Knights of Columbus building. I was standing on the sidewalk mesmerized by the music when the director came up and introduced himself. He said they were practicing for the upcoming St. Patrick's Day parade but they do other events as well and he gave me a business card. I asked him if I could take a couple of photos with my phone and he said absolutely...he even had the band march around the lot for me to get photos. Unfortunately it was too dark to get a decent shot (first photo), so I'm including one I took at last year's St. Pat's parade. I just loved my little exclusive parking lot concert. The freezing cold, darkness, and terrible iPhone photos were inconsequential. :) I walked home wondering what types of events other than funerals and parades would call for bagpipes...
Three good things:
1. Half price bottle of wine night at 300 East (restaurant) last night...and a delicious dinner too :)
2. The sound of bagpipes in the night air
3. Friendly strangers
Well you must have been thrilled to have them put on a concert just for you....the bagpipes have such a haunting sound. You got a really nice picture of them last year at least! :0)
