January Full 'Wolf' Moon by peggysirk

January Full 'Wolf' Moon

Not much of a moon shot...I did a rush job of a photo shoot during a time out in the football game. This doesn't do justice to last night's gorgeous full moon, but it's all I've got so I'll go with it.

Three Good Things:
1. The Carolina Panthers (NFL) are heading to the Super Bowl
2. ✓ marks on a to do list
3. Conversations with good friends
I read for the first time yesterday that the moon phases had names & here you are, good job Panthers!

Wow, Peggy, gorgeous! ...and I owe you an apology! Ken told me the Panthers are going to the Superbowl, and I didn't realize they were your North Carolina team... OK...NOW I get it! And hey, congratulations! I'm going to a Supe Bowl party and I'll think of you as I hope the Panthers win!

@happypat I love the Native American names for the full moons. They called the January moon "Wolf Moon" because of the howls of hungry wolves outside the villages in winter.
We are very excited about the Panthers amazing season! One more big game to go...

@Weezilou Thanks for the support of our hometown team, Louise! They have had an incredible season. There is much excitement in Charlotte, NC!! We're planning a big 'chili cook off'' Super Bowl party with family and friends as we cheer on the Carolina Panthers!

After photographing the setting moon abut 5:30 this morning, I told Ken I'd learned on 365 it 's called a "Wolf Moon"... Of course he wanted to know how it got that name, so thank you for the background information! Fascinating!
