At Bombo point there are old quarries, and inside them a sewerage works and an ocean outfall. Beyond this however are amazing rock formations. Natural sea walls formed from granite and behind them open spaces. Mel asked me to show part of the process I use in making landscapes. In the collage are a series of photographs showing ugliness, the landscape and setting. I often make landscapes photographs by being highly selective of what I show, often excluding houses, people and industry. Often a landscape is as much an illusion as the evocation of a natural environment. In selecting photos to show on 365 I mostly pick the ones I connect with most and that are representative of being in the place. In photographing a place I will, take several cameras or lenses, and, immerse myself in the place shooting the angles or features.
