Sprinklers and freezing temperatures combined this morning to create an icy wonderland at my children's school. Each individual blade of grass was encased in its own sheath of ice. The lawn absolutely sparkled in the morning light. So glad I had my camera with me. Thanks 365 Project!
For maximum bokeh enjoyment, please view large. :)
I love this! You would think I would be tired of ice, but the endless sparkles, subtle colors, and the encased grass make a wonderful scene. Good job getting low for this one.
@rvwalker Thank you, Ross! You are the one to appreciate ice! It was a good thing I didn't care what I was wearing because I was pretty wet after getting low enough for this shot.
This is so unique- how often do you see ice covering each blade of grass? I'm glad the ice is out by you and not with me, but I loved looking at this shot and appreciating the beauty it creates when it sheathes the world with its crystal fingers. Beautiful capture- I'm jumping on the fav wagon.
Oh wow! That is absolutely gorgeous! A must-see on large view. The light shining through the ice is lovely, love the dof and the subtle rainbow colours in the bokeh. Fab.
That is amazing! I do wonder, what on earth they were doing using a sprinkler system in the cold weather... maybe it's a gardening thing I'm unaware of! Beautiful picture all the same.
I saw this on my phone earlier but don't like commenting as I prefer to see it larger - really quite amazing. I knew it had to be seen against the black- Fav! Did you get funny looks crouching down taking photos of the grass?
@ejlockett Thank you, Emlar! It was really an oversight that the sprinklers were running. Our weather had warmed enough for them to be turned on, but then we had a cold snap. Someone forgot to turn them off that night. The terrible thing was that the young trees nearby were covered in huge icicles and the weight of them actually broke off a few limbs. Thanks for your comment!
I'm going to use a new photography term that I just learned from this site...beautiful "Bokeh"!
Gotta FAV it!
Congrats on the TT :-))
