This large tree on my regular walking route is perfect for climbing. It's thick, long branches are like outstretched arms, inviting exploration. My sons cannot pass it by without heading up for a visit.
I was alone when I passed it yesterday and stopped to take photos. Then it occurred to me that for all the times I've stood below it, waiting on my sons, I've never climbed it myself. In fact, it's been ages since I've climbed a tree at all! So, it was time to rectify that. I headed up the tree and sat there for awhile, taking in the view, the sounds, and the textures.
This shot is looking down a long branch to the canopy in the distance. I like the texture and details in the bark. The light shining through the leaves created lovely bokeh. Thus, another entry for the Camera Challenge on natural bokeh.
Well for me there are two challenges you have obtained that I may never be able to do. 1. Climb a tree again, my will is there but my legs say stay planted on the ground. 2. This shot as I will not have this view unless a forklift helps me. LOL All kidding aside this is a wonderful capture and a fine example of you pushing your limits, in more ways than one. I too love the textures and especially your POV. For all the reasons mentioned FAV.
Physically I could not climb a tree, even if I wanted to but I think it's so great that you did! Why should kids have all the fun? Wonderful story and great shot!
It's amazing what 365 has got us doing, but I think climbing trees is a thing of the past for me! I think I'd probably bash my camera on the branches if nothing else! But your shot is great - I like the pov and the bokeh is good too.
Really liked this as soon as I saw it and then was more impressed when I read your post! I dont think I would have a clue how to climb a tree anymore! Its a lovely image as well with the bokeh, pov and textures and dof. A fav.
Totally awesome -- you climbed the tree for this. WOW!! I initially thought you were looking up but it is all the more impressive the other way. Great bokeh too.
I spent most of my childhood up a tree and love the birds-eye view and freedom of it - how wonderful that you climbed this one and then took such a magnificant shot plus bokeh galore! Love your POV, DOF and the story behind it. :-)
I must admit to climbing an occasional tree. I know... I should act my age on occasion. The narrow depth of field turns our visual imaginations loose in this photo.
You climbed the tree and took this? That's pretty impressive.
And a lovely shot with great bokeh too.
Keep climbing & clicking!
