In a desperate attempt to avoid going outside in our sub zero temperatures, I have been looking for inside photo ops wherever I go. I saw these bottles lined up in the lobby of a theater as my family and I waited to see a performance of "It's a Wonderful Life" based on the Christmas movie classic. The lobby was decorated to be a mini "Bedford Falls", the fictional town, even including falling snow! I suspect these containers were to hint at the pharmacy where young George worked. I liked their different shapes and the light on them.
When I first met Jim and we had our first December holiday season together, I learned that he would watch that movie almost daily (it was on all the time then). I have seen it SOOOO many times. I'm sure that's what the bottles reflect. IT's a beautiful still life.
@pflaume Yep...but now NBC owns the rights so he Tivo's it so we can watch it more than once. I admit I like it as well...and he always jokes about an angel getting wings if we hear a bell in some weird setting.
What a great shot Lisa I really like your choice of processing and the fake snow sounds fun. Our must see Christmas film in this house is the Muppet Christmas Carol, we don't feel truly Christmassy until we have all sat down and watched it together. Think we know the dialogue off by heart!!
Wonderful capture - fab focus and dof!! Fav!! I have a DVD of that film and have to watch it before I feel Christmassy. I think I might put it on today as I dress my Christmas tree.
What a great family activity, and extra credit goes to the imaginative theater staff. I like your composition with the single dark bottle against the lighter space.
Lovely capture- I particularly like the way the light is playing off the middle jar for some reason. The first time I saw that movie was just after my mother died (believe it or not) and the ending just made me cry! We were sharing Christmas Eve with some good friends and everyone was so worried about me- it was quite embarrassing!
@olivetreeann What a touching memory. Thanks for sharing it. It's been interesting to read people's Christmas traditions and memories involving this movie.
I agree with Ross. Wonderful composition and i love the soft, receding shapes and DoF. I would have loved to have seen the decorated theatre. It sounds dreamy. Great they put so much effort into the atmosphere of the movie!
