GUNTHORPE MOORINGS by phil_howcroft

GUNTHORPE MOORINGS

The River Trent runs through Nottingham city centre and the county of Nottinghamshire.

This picture is taken at Gunthorpe, which is a few miles north of the city. The river is navigable and at Gunthorpe there are some moorings for small vessels.

I've done this picture on a wide angle, with a long lead in line (ha ha ...a real lead in line...an orange one).

The boat is a bit tatty and well worn, but that adds to the picture.

Phil
Great perspective!! Yeah, it does look worn and, I agree, it adds to the photo

Great angle. Love the shadow in the foreground in contrast to the length of boat in full sun.

@hobgoblinwychwo Thanks John, I'm not an expert on old boats so I will take your word for it :) I must admit there are quite a few old vessels moored there, some of which never seem to move !

@allie912 Allison, I'm trying some different angles of view in my pictures. I photographed the next boat down the path at an even lower angle. That picture was more dramatic but the boat was not quite as interesting. Thank you for taking time to comment :)

I love the way you used the low angle on this one and brought the old frayed rope up close..makes the photo very interesting..great job again!

@gill Gill, I'm pleased you think the orange works well. I think if the rope had been blue or grey then the image would not work quite the same. Thank you for visiting this picture.
