Our first BLUE rose of the season by phil_howcroft

Our first BLUE rose of the season

These stunning roses bloom every year, I love the subtle light blues they produce.........

Well you can probably tell by my background colours that this is an 'over the top produced' post processed image

It's actually a subtle peach colour, but while editing the rose in photoshop elements, I got a bit carried away with the hue and saturation slider bars and decide a 'pop art' rose might look quite nice in my 365

We have quite a lot of rose bushes in our garden so I should not be short of flowers over the summer to photograph

Phil
I love the blues!

Ha ha, Phil! I kept thinking, "Man, I have never seen a blue rose...." :) The flower does look quite stunning this way! Let us know if you figure out how to create a blue rose. You know, for real. ;p Nice one!

@meredithwb Meredith, it looks a bit false, but it also looks slightly authentic too, I thikk I was struggling for inspiration here

@judithg Judith, I think I went for the easy option, take an average shot and try to make it look all 'arty' :)

wow - not sure I've ever seen a blue rose - and then thought...i wonder...and OK phew you've processed it! However, it looks kind of crazy and like it could really be this way - ! great job - like the light - I think that's what gives it a bit of authenticity. Like it!!

I was suspicious of that lurid background right from the start - and kept thinking I was sure that you did not get roses in blue - it is good to challenge perceptions and I do like this processing - it is fun!

So unusual a blue rose , it looks really odd as you have accentuated the colour too !

@sparkle Thanks Juliette, If it was in flower a few weeks ago, I could have posted it on 01 April 2011 :)

@seattle Constance, well maybe not that creative, more desperation than creation

WIld! I thought maybe you were a skilled geneticist and had created a new breed!

Fave! Love how you created this luminous blue rose!
May 15th, 2011
@cath thanks Catherine, it was just a case of moving a few 'slider bars' :)

@allie912 Allison, if I created a 'blue rose', I'd be rather rich :)
