This gospel choir was singing on the corner of Clumber Street in Nottingham.
They were promoting an up and coming convention named 'Freedom'
I was a little concerned about posting this image it has two children in the frame. However, I did ask if I could take a picture and one of the guys handing out little leaflets said it was OK...in fact he offered to take a picture of me singing with the choir !
I think colour works better than B/W in this case, mainly because of the nice pinks and greens.
The image is a bit too 'straight on' , but I needed to do this because the choir extends to both sides of the curve of the building and if I shot slightly from the side I might have lost some of the people.
Nice capture, Phil! The woman on the right really is singing her heart out. With the gospel choir singing it reminds me of an old spiritual we would sing at camp and such growing up: Oh freedom. Oh freedom. Oh freedom over me! And before I'd be a slave, I'll be buried in my grave. And go home to my Lord and be free.
Phil, it's a great shot. I love Worship and wish I could hear them and not just see them. I think your angle is great - they're not in a straight line so add interest. I agree color is great for this one. Superb shot.
@meredithwb Meredith, 365 is a clever little website, who'd have thought a picture posted by a man in Nottingham could make a Texan lady remember a camp song :)
Oh, such a wonderful street photo. Love all the people in this shot doing something a little different. It would have been a fav if you had only stepped in the shot!! Really great capture.
