They know how to name a Pub in Arnold...Not !!!

We know how to name a pub in Arnold...Robin Hood, Maid Marion, Major Oak, The Arrow, Friar Tuck, The Longbow....you get the jist...all Robin Hood related !!!

This is the Robin Hood, it used to be "Robin Hood and Little John", but after a facelift they dropped Little John. It's opposite the well know 58 bus stop :)

It's probably 20 years since I went in this pub....in fact I can't remember the last time I went in a pub !!!! Not that I don't enjoy a drink, but the public houses of Arnold are ...well they are the pubic houses of Arnold !

Shot on the evening walk with Ruby...I intended to shoot the church lit up , but it wasn't lit up !

Shot

nice B&W Phil...could be worse could imaginatively be called the Red Lion!!

Oh naughty church ruining your plans!! I think most pub names are fairly predictable.........our 2 locals are White Hart and white Dog...a fairly colourless area!!! Fun!!

Nowt wrong with a lit up pub at least it has not closed down. Nice B/W shot

We have The White Bull & the Black bull!!!!!! I think you have to push your famous heritage as much as you can & it does look nicely lit & welcoming.

I used to live there as a small child. Too young to go to the pubs sadly. Nice shot tho :)

And is Sherwood Forest anywhere near Arnold? Pub/church - interchangeable!
November 27th, 2012
@judithg thanks judith, Sherwood forest isn't too far away...we are the last bit of urban Nottingham as you head north out of the city....green fields and woods nearby.....i wouldn't think you'd get many of st. mary's congregation frequenting the local hostelries

Hahaha your write-up made me chuckle! If you didn't know anything about the place, just going by the names, you'd think it was a good tourist destination. There's one good thing - Beer in Arnold is much cheaper than here!
