three stellas, a fag packet and a blackberry

I despair sometimes, some New Year Revellers have dumped their empty tins and fag packet (cigarette packet to none UK viewers) on a ledge just by a path / short cut connecting Arnold town centre to a housing estate .......there is a bin 50 metres away !!

Highly post processed, to emphasise the starkness.

It would probably have been kids drinking in this location, as they are always hanging around this path....I've seen and heard them giving verbal to the local CPO's...the ciggies and beer would probably have been bought from the "convenience store / newsagent" at the bottom of the path !!

They would not have left the blackberries that matter as these would have been used to wish their friends Happy New Year and play their street songs.

I hope the picture tells a story.....I'm not judging ...I'm just observing !...The cans could quite easily have been the local winos.

I nearly took a photo of the bags and bags of rubbish in town on Jan 1st - and also the poor guy cleaning the filth out of the night club doorway but I'd already depressed myself with 2 rough sleeper shots....

A sad place to be. I often pick up beer cans while out dog-walking, and like you I can't understand it when there's a bin a few yards away. It's a sign of the times.

Even in our village, which is very rural, we have cans, burger boxes etc along the lanes where they have been chucked out of cars - usually late at night. And yet, I bet their cars are immaculate inside! You were right to give this subject an airing, it's everywhere.

and, the scary thing is if you do confront someone about litter dropping.....as I did once, the response was frightening, sadly people don't care any more.

You made something depressing into a work of art. I do wonder why some people care so little for their surroundings.

full of contrasting textures Phil, its a shame when litter gets left about...but then if it wasn't there, what would you have taken a picture of tonight??

@sparkle you are right juliette, it was an easy shot to get....there was an upturned shopping trolley too , which I've captured for a 'filler' when I need one (which is quite often !!!)
