A poignant day... 2 Years on 365 ....and out of contract at work
29 January 2013 was TWO years on 365
Year 1 was completed OK
Year 2 after a few weeks off was 'post when you can'
Here are four of my fave pics from year 2
Top Left: Lilac buds, I never did natural history / nature until I started 365
Top Right: Cloughie salutes the troops...published in a 'Nottingham Arts' paper.
Bottom Right : Ruby shot with my 50 mm lens...i love the lens ...and I love my little whippet
Bottom Left : Arnold Sunset, the only image I've ever sold ...for a few dollars to the Sunday Times !!!
29 January 2013 also saw me out of contract after nearly 14 years with the same client !!! I'll tell you the story once I find a new job or a new contract. I'm open to offers ...all types of work considered !
So quite a poignant day for me
Thanks everyone for all the support and virtual friendship. 365 is a gr8 little photo sharing communinty.
Doesn't time fly, Phil?!?! I really hope you find some work soon but try and stay positive in the meanwhile. You have time for your, wife, daughter, Ruby and photography! And probably a very long list of other things too!
Its great how youve put these images together, they are each so different but all excellent. I was trying to choose a favourite but couldnt! Good luck on the work front Phil, I will have my fingers crossed for you, although that might make it awkward to use my camera lol
You have selected some great shots for your collage but of course it's Ruby that steals the show for me. Keep your chin up Phil, I am keeping my fingers crossed for a new contract to be just round the corner. X
Great selection Phil! I'm going to buy a 50mm lens with my Christmas money. When I get over paying the tax bill!! I feel your pain on the contract work. We are a client down at the moment and one is short term - it will sort itself out but it doesn't prevent a certain number a bad nights! And I TRY not to nag Nigel about it! BUT let's celebrate 2 years!!! And how did you go about selling your shot?
@judithg thnx judith, the 50mm lens is ace and less than £100 too ...yes 2 years is a reason to celebrate :) ...as for selling my pics...I post some of my pics from here on flickr. Flickr have some 'curators' who work on behalf of Getty Images...they invited me to submit about half a dozen of my pics to Getty ....and The Sunday Times bought the sunset pic ! I only got a few dollars and I don't know if they ever used the pic (you don't get told what it's for ...you only get told who bought it ). I've not been paid yet as I've not got enough sales to meet the minimum payment value....that was 6 months ago so I don't expect I'll ever get paid !
Having said that I'm thinking of building my own personal website, to showcase a few images...I might have some time on my hands in the next few weeks to do so !
Ahaa - ive always assumed that Flickr is so big theyd never find me. I'm thinking I should send some to the local paper for competitions and things and raise my profile (or indeed create a profile since raising would assume that I have one!) forgot to mention that I love the lavender.
this is a great collage Phil -I love all 4 of these shots - I do hope that you find some more contract work soon...there must be lots of work out there for a man with your talents!
@sparkle thanks juliette for your kind words....on the job front i would take a contract or a permie role,. At the moment I'm only looking locally, because I don't want long commutes any more...I was travelling a 120+ mile round trip four times a week !! ...so I may have to be a little patient !
