Two youngsters doing some retail therapy in Nottingham, entering the store through the "exit"
You can hear someone shouting "Wrong Door Mi Duck" ...the mi duck bit being 'my duck' ... a term of endearment in the East Midlands ...a bit like 'dear' / 'honey' / 'bud' / 'mate' / 'matey' / 'love' / 'babes' etc. Some from the list are none pc, but it's everyday language.
You think they would notice they were going through the wrong door, especially as it's got a blue sign to highlight the fact !
I could easily see why they would go through the wrong door, quite close together, the sign highish up & they are having a good natter!!! I thought you had done a bit of SC here Phil!!!
I like these local endearments don't you?
@phil_howcroft Yes 'love ' is a real Lancashire word but dying out I think, you are right only us oldies use it...not me I might add but I do like it. Probably not PC these days!
Brilliant catch Phil! When I was a uni in Sheffield I noticed how everyone was called 'love' in a non-patronising way (unlike today when it only seems to be used for oldies) - I really liked it then!
Lovely touch of selective colour Phil! I'm afraid I gnash my teeth when i'm called love or dear!!so patronising down here!!!Thats a fantastic shot, and love the b&w!
Great capture Phil - perfect timing. I love different terms of endearment, the only one I dislike is Bro, or Bruv, you might not get that round your way?
Love the monotone with one burst of blue. When I was first starting out as a teacher, there was a memoir written by an inner city teacher titled, "Up the Down Staircase" Some people just naturally like to be contrary!
I like these local endearments don't you?
Nice b&w with only the spot of blue.
