No more signing on for me
5 weeks after my job was "off shored to India", I've found myself a new job.
Quite a significant change of direction too.
After 30+ years or working for big plc's and designing their IT systems, I've found a job in a local school. It's still IT related, but is significantly different from what I was doing.
I'll be working for Nottingham City Council as an an ICT MIS data manager in a local school.
I start on Monday, so yesterday was my last "signing on" day. I've made the shot quite urban and gritty as the Job Centre is not exactly the most inviting places to visit !
Oh! Where have I been? I didn't realize you've been out of work. I'm very glad to hear you've lined up a new job, though, Phil!! My brother has found himself in the same situation recently and he's in the same line of work. I hope you find happiness in your new job!!
Oh wow! What a change of life for you! Congrats on getting a new job so soon. Hope you like life in a school environment.....I can sympthise with the signing on thing.....I did a stint of that many years ago, had to go to a place near Southampton docks, not the best of places!!! Mind you, in those days the benefit was wage related, so it wasn't all bad! Now look at the arrow sign and think to yourself....the only way is UP!
Oh well done Phil & a great relief I'm sure. I did think of asking you how the job market was going but thought better not.....so pleased for you, you can't keep a good man down!!!
Was worrying as you have a lot of expense this August ...was thinking you might have to put the ladder up to the window!!! LOL !
Well done Phil, and after only 5 weeks! I'm sure you'll find it a very interesting and satisfying place to work. Now you can really look forward to the wedding!
Hurrah.so pleased for you, that must be a great relief and rather fun to have a completely new venue...hope it goes well, love Pats remark about the ladder!! Years ago my father always used to say he didn't mind if I eloped!! The only way is up now, a very significant arrow!!!
@happypat many thanks Pat. The job centre was not a brilliant place to visit ...and the whole process of 'signing on' was very fragmented with lots of different call centres and people to speak to !
Congratulations, Phil. I hope you like your new position and the new direction your life is taking. Will you be "behind the scenes" or will you work with students? Best of luck to you!
Howdy Phil.. Just had a wee peek on here on read about your work situation.
Well done for getting your new job - hopefully it will be a fantastic new environment to work in and you get plenty more photo opps.
At some point I hope to get back on here, just a bit out if it all for a while.. Laters.
