Injured Whippet by phil_howcroft

Injured Whippet

Ruby sporting a heavily strapped / bandaged left leg / paw.

She's somehow damaged her left 'dew claw'...it was at right angles to her leg last night. We don't know how she did it, but she does run around....well run around like a whippet I suppose...she races up the garden steps, races down the garden step, races up the stairs.

Anyway the vet said she might need to be sedated to 'mend the claw', but then said she would try to 'mend it' without sedation...Jane said poor little Ruby gave out the biggest whelp / cry you have ever heard when the vet messed around with the claw.

Heavily bandaged until Friday and antibiotics....doesn't stop her mobility much, but she does look a bit sad with it on !

Hope she is better soon

awwwww, my daughter is a dog trainer and walker and volunteers at their local shelter, she sees a LOT of stuff. She walked 4 whippets.

She'll be right! I know the dew claws are so sensitive but it looks well bandaged. As long as she doesn't gnaw at the bandage!

Poor Ruby, I like all the pink - collar, lead, even the bandage looks pink.

Poor Ruby. We always used to remove dew claws when the pups were about 2 weeks old and it didn't seem to hurt them and saved a lot of the pain when they start ripping.
