Admiring the View

Wife Whippet and Daughter...Jane, Ruby and Claire on top of a hill on our walk in the Derbyshire Peak District. Admiring the view.

It's a pretty impressive view too. If you look left, you can see the Chatsworth House Estate. If you look down, you can see the little village of Baslow. If you look across the valley, you can see another massive hill climb to the Duke of Wellington Monument (where we had a picnic) and further afar to Curbar Edge.

When I say 'you look'...I mean the person stood there....You the viewer of this shot, cannot see the said items in the photo !

It was a great walk and those of you who know the Peak District probably know where we are stood !

Even Ruby seems to be admiring the view, with her ears alert and upright (although I think she'd got excited at seeing some sheep in the valley rather than the view)

Ruby is not the best traveller in a car, but she made the 50 minute drive from Nottingham to the Peak District with no 'incidents'.

Post processed in GIMP, and a G'MIC film plugin of a Kodak Kodachrome 25 film

What a wonderful excursion and view. Love the way your girls parallel the stone pillars. We had a Chatsworth House exhibit at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts some years ago. Very memorable.

Oh I'm envious of those hills and views. I was wondering if you'd had Ruby with you when you said you'd got stuck! Up to 15 min walks with Monty now so there's hope yet for a country view!

@judithg thanks Judith, glad to hear Monty is up and about again :)

Wonderful photo, the light is stunning a sharp bright winter's day in the fresh air enjoying our magnificent countryside. I though Ruby looked like a whippet surveying potential hunting opportunities! Mine all travel well, luckily. I imagine the car and campervan are a whippet tardis for them whisking them off to new intriguing worlds. My Aunt used to live in Baslow - nice well dressing there I cycle over once with Stafford Road Club to see it - a wonderful ride about 120 miles we were shattered but it was well worth it ha ha excuse the pun!

@roachling thanks louise, are you stood in the peak district on your profile pic? I wanted to do a similar shot with me and my little whippet...but my wife put her foot down !!!

@willowdragon Thank you Al, much appreciated :)

Yes, that's at the top of Win Hill - and it wasn't dangerous or on the edge or anything so it's perfectly safe for you and your whippet!

@roachling ahh louise ....i was going to climb on a rock that stuck out with a sheer drop either side !

@phil_howcroft
haha... I grew up doing that so I don't worry about things like that, though I find the older I get, the more unstable I feel when I do it! Maybe you could do it next time you're out in the peak :)
