These are two of the audience enjoying the season of 'open air brass band' concerts Nottingham City Council run throughout the summer. When I say summer, it was raining and if you look carefully you can see the raindrops drifting across the frame
A little bit of rain cannot dampen the love of brass bands for this elderly couple.
Three World Cup Things:
Messi : No substitute for class (again)
USA v Belgium : Brilliant Game I was shouting at the TV willing USA on
Tim Howard : Brilliant display between the sticks
@seattle thanks constance, i thought this shot might appeal to you as it has a street feel
@steveh ahhh but steve we are both closer to retirement than we think. I hope you have (a) a plan and (b) a pension to support your plan....then again the govt. will habe us working forever, despite many young people cannot get a job....there got thst off my chest :-)
You can't look smiley all the time......I think they are having a whale of a time........they will be holding hands shortly! Must say he is a very patriotic guy with his British brolly! Looks depressingly cold for mid summer...we have had a great week weather wise up in't north!
@eyesmile thanks gena, the colours are indeed nice, but i think i have overdone the post processing, the image looks a little too dark on my smart phone compared to my laptop
@happypat thanks Pat, the couple seemed to really enjoyed the band (they were singing along to the last few rousing numbers ....White Cliffs of Dover being the finale)
@sangwann thanks Dione :) we are a tough lot in Nottingham
I love their super serious expressions with those NOT serious, cheerfully patterned umbrellas! What a cute shot! They have on heavy jackets too! Must be chillly there in the summer.
Superb observation. I love brass bands. My cousin plays in one but said they have started to ask then to pay so they can play in parks over in the Bristol area. They do few public performances now which is a terrible shame. All those lovely bandstands not used for their original purpose :-(
candid image at its bets Phil
