Derby County Reserves versus Bolton Wanderers Reserves

On Monday night my mate Bill and I nipped up the road to Alfreton Town Football CLub to see Derby County Reserves play host to Bolton Wanderers Reserves

Actually they don't call them reserves anymore, they are now known as the development squad. A mix of U21 players and more experienced players.

Derby play develpment squad games at the 'Impact Arena', the home of non league Conference Team Alfreton Town. The 'arena' is really an old school football ground, rickety stands, an away end name "The Tin Stand" (after the tin roof I think), Terracing with seats bolted onto it. Quite a nice touch was the far side wing covered in Autumn leaves from the trees that hung over the stand. The Wanderers green shirts looked pleasing against the autumn gold leaves.

Decent game all told. 1-1 final score, £3-00 admission, £1-00 concessions, free for Derby season ticket holders . I blagged my way in for free, showed the man on the gate my BWFC season ticket, saying you should let BWFC season ticket holders in free if you let DCFC in free :) . Unexpected surprise was a young full back named Sellers, who had a really good game for the Wanderers and could be pushing for a first team start. Nice colours too with the reds of the Alfreton Towns stands and seats, complimenting the green pitch, yellow leaves and white and green jerseys...Football can be a beautiful game you know :)

A nifty fifty shot using my 450D. The floodlights of the stadium were not really powerful enough to capture any meaningfull fast shutter speed action, so my photo is two young Wanderers about to take a free kick (which led to the Wanderers goal)
Good to see the young ones coming up.....a good game with not far to Travel. I like the clarity here & for a flood lit shot it's turned out really well? Cheap too!

£3 isn't bad at all! Peter paid £10 to see St Neots (our local team) town play Hereford last Saturday. Love those long green knee socks!

Great shot and clarity in the dim ambience, Phil. Thanks for showing this shot so close to the one I posted a few days ago of my days gone by. This brings some lovely memories.

Their tights are falling down Phil, heheh. Sorry, don't understand anything about the football, but I'm sure you enjoyed the game.

Well you could buy a pie with the £3 you saved! Might try my nifty fifty tomorrow - the low light is a bit rubbish with a zoom!
