I didn't realise that this shot could be making a statement. A lone child looking back at a poster issued by Nottingham City council seeking foster parents of parents willing to adopt.
It's a pity the green plastic barrier breaks up the continuity.
The wooden background which holds the poster is the back of the temporary construction used for the Christmas Ice Rink.
Re the barrier : that's street photography, though isn't it?
But the eye of the boy in the picture is on the left, vertical third, the picture of the boy and girl is strong in the composition and the directional line of the little girl's gaze is very strong too.
You've kept the barrier from reflecting in the water which helps deflect attention away from it.
If it's any consolation, what I saw when I first looked at this was the 'real' little girl looking at the picture of the boy and then the text on the purple banner. It is a very poignant and telling image.
@dulciknit Alison, it's really kind of you to take time to write all the observations . An excellent critique :) . I was taking a minimalistic shot of the young girl reflected in the water. If I'd had a zoom I might have gone in closer, but this was with my 50mm lens and I didn't realise the composition with the poster until I uploaded to my pc. Thank you very much :)
@busylady thanks judith, i didn't plan the shot it just happened !!
