A choir sings outside the Nottingham City Council House
This is a community choir, anyone can join for a sing.
I had a surreal moment on my lunchtime walk today
I was walking past a row of terraced houses in Basford and a lady was stood on her window sill inside the house, with her head poking out of a little window shouting "Charlie Come Here"....
I caught her eye and she asked me for help because "I have someone in the room in need of urgent help"
So I tentatively walked over to her ! She smelt of alcohol. "We are locked in the room and I have a man in need of help, Can you knock on the door for Charlie" ...
"Which house?" I ask
"This house she says" .
So I knock on the door
"You will need to knock harder than that"
So I rattle the letterbox.
Charlie sticks his head out of the upstairs window
"This lady needs your help I say"
The lady pokes her head out of the window.
"Charlie I need you to come down now babes. Hurry up babes we are locked in the room"
"thanks for helping us" says the lady
I walk away, catch the eye of two electricity workmen having a break in their work van. They smile and I shake my head.
It was almost as surreal a moment
as when two men in a white van asked me if i wanted to but an osteopathic bed from them as they had some cancelled orders in the back of the van
Oh my....that's a good one...actually two good stories!! You just never know. Hope you didn't get in the van?? Fun capture...especially the guy in the red cap..top row right.
Love the photo - colourful hats, scarves and coats and all singing lustily! Thats what you do isn't it - sing lustily! Those men in the white fan sound suspicious. Think the bed fell off the back of a truck!
Haha what a cool encounter and story. You must have laughed when it was all over. Magnificent shot, Phil - the choir seem to take their singing very seriously.
Look at all those people, very much individuals and all united by one of the most powerful unifiers of all - singing. Smashing capture.
Great story too, so surreal!
I wish I could sing - I would join a choir! Lady at the bottom MAY have forgotten the words... I got asked to help though a window once - the old lady was locked in and couldn't get the door to unlock so she passed me a key and I unlocked her from the outside. She seemed fairly sane - and sober at least. You didn't buy a bed then?!
