Hani by phil_howcroft

Hani

It was a practical evening at Arnold and District Camera Club on Monday and I used it as an opportunity to grab another shot in my 50 mono portraits at 50mm series

This is Hani, he has been coming to the club for the best part of two years.

He is a psychiatrist at the City Hospital and lives in Arnold. A relative novice at photography, Hani is keen to learn all about our wonderful hobby

He always offers a helping hand when we are tidying up at the end of the evening.

A nice smile here. Hani was worried about the light on his head adding a touch of glare to his portrait. I toned the glare down by doing a bit of cloning on the right hand side.

His left eye has no catch light, so I was worried if this shot makes the grade for my little project.

GIMP / G'MIC / Clone and sharpen. Pretty standard 5 minute post processing for me !

Nice portrait Phil

This is a great portrait shot, Phil. You are becoming an expert on this type of photography - from the way you noted certain details and how you fixed them. My son is a psychiatrist and for 5 years he was in the Uk, in Stoke-on-Trent and Oxford. Hani and him could have met while he was there.

Blimey - I've learned a new technical term! It's 'catch light' @happypat !

I think the shine on hos cheeks, nose and head add to the pure delight of the shot, and on his face

mmm. I can see their is more to a portrait than just a shooting a face! Light seems to feature so much!
