Walking the NET Bridge by phil_howcroft

Walking the NET Bridge

A streetie shot of a young man walking over the Nottingham Express Transit Bridge (the tram bridge) at Basford Tram Station, Nottingham

Shot on my Panasonic TZ7 on my lunchtime walk. The image has a bit of conflict with the modern sleek lines of the bridge contrasting with the disused building (which I think used to be a public toilet)

Edited in darktable, utilising the the red filter of the monochrome option, recovering shadows, upping the contrast.and then cropping the top bit of the frame as the sky was bland.

I am amazed what Darktable did to this shot. The wall in the top right hand corner (just above the NET sign) was all dark in the original jpeg image, but by use of 'recover shadows' it gave me some nice texture and brickwork.
Love to see the original so you can see how the photo becomes so much better! Thats a neat brick building in the back!

Just found this one - what impresses me most, Phil, is that I can understand some of your processing steps!!! Like the composition.

You confused my mind the way you processed this shot. You are very well versed with processing options. My knowledge is minimal. Beautiful shot. Love all the lines.

Awesome lines in b&w Phil. THe brick wall adds a nice bit of texture. The b&w tones are so clear with nice contrasts.

Love the shapes and textures. I'm intrigued now and going to look at this Darktable you speak of.
