Female Eurycantha Calcarata

A Female Eurycantha Calcarata ....."That's easy for you to say Phil", I hear reply

OK it is a Papua New Guinea Spiny Stick Insect, hanging around on Monday night's Practical Evening at Arnold and District Camera Club

One of our club members Marlies has a big collection of insects and quite often brings them along to our practical evenings.

A little tip for you, the diffused background is a printed sheet of blurry green foliage :)

You don't see many of these on 365 :)

Gee thats one interesting looking insect, as long as it stays over in your neck of the woods. Good shot too.

Fav for an outstanding shot. I can pronounce it but think it will be hard to remember it. Our children had stick insects as 'pets' when they were little - and now we've graduated to Jinks!

Brilliant shot, Phil. I cannot imagine myself collecting these insects.

When I first saw this I thought Phil has been back to primary school to look at the stuck insects! Years since I looked after a stick insect,.....weird things! This looks a different colour & it's been eating all the cake...fatter than a normal one don't you think? Great subject for your club & you caught it very nicely in a full frame!

Beautiful shot. Thanks for the tip. We were taught in difficult spots use a black piece of cloth as background. Specially outdoors for flowers,

Cool close up, great details and textures. I don't think I fancy having one of those crawling over me but it's a fascinating feature. Resourceful use of... resources! for the background.
PS I can pronounce it too. :-)
