It was Camera Club Model Night at Arnold and District Camera Club on Monday Night. We usually have one night per year, but this year we have had two nights (and our club outing to Kelham Hall also included some models).
Dave our chairman, is a sales rep and visits opticians throughout the Midlands and North East selling frames and other accessories. One of his Customers (or do you call them clients these days) is a local opticians in Arnold. Charlotte works in the opticians and Dave asked her if she would be a model for our model night.
We shoot with studio lights (that's a long story about the light's for the night) and a remote control trigger on your camera hotshoe which activates the flash light.
The setup for this shot was a back light which was permanently on (creating rim lighting) and a flash at about 8 O'clock in the frame i.e. to the left of where I was standing.
You shoot on Manual settings in your camera i.e.
ISO : 100
Aperture : f8
Shutter Speed : 1/125 second
White Balance : AWB
I edited my RAW file in Rawtherapee, faffing around with tone mapping, contrast and then adding a film emulation of Fuji 160C
Very accomplished portrait. Great light, good attention to the eyes. Love her pose - I feel as if I've got here just as she's finished sweeping her hair back - sort of reverse anticipation, if that makes sense! That bit of implied animation is the icing on the cake. Fav.
A very professional shot - the set up sounds a bit complicated but the AWB is what I have to remember to set for one of my indoor strangers' portraits when I've just come in from outside.
The lighting is so good here, it really enhances her face. Like her pose, she looks like she was a good model. I like that you have given us your settings. Thank you for the follow too.
@dulciknit 365 is my main photo sharing place alison, but flickr seems to be the photo sharing place on the web. It is massive, you can become lost in it, but you do get lots of views and hits especially when you join groups etc.
@phil_howcroft Thanks for that. I'm planning to spread my wings a bit but I want to complete my third project here first. It's become something of a must-do in my mind. :-D
@ivan thanks ivanm seems to have worked ok
@happypat thanks Pat, charlotte was a popular model with both the men and women of our club :)
@alinz thanks ali
@sangwann cheers dione thank you for the fave and comment :)
@dulciknit thanks alison, it is quite easy to shoot under studio lights, you just set the aperture and shutter speed and off you go :)
@quietpurplehaze thanks haze, if you shoot in RAW, and forget to change the white balance, you can reset the WB in post processing
@jennywren thank you Jen, the studio lights make such a difference
BTW, there is a mono shot (no glasses) on my flickr stream

Sounds interesting.
What a beautiful portrait! I've opened a flickr account but haven't investigated the site yet.
