The Five Years in the title indicates I've completed FIVE years on 365. This shot is the start of year SIX !
1340 images in 5 years is an average of 268 images a year.
Given that year one was 365 shots, then the average from year 2 onwards is 244 images per year or 4.7 images per week or 0.73 images per day (rounded excluding leap years)
As for the image above. A Streetie, shot from the back entrance to Nottingham's Victoria Centre. Not exactly a nice setting to the entrance that is meant to be one of Nottingham's premier shopping mall's
Quite a serious crop (maybe 40%) and quite a serious conversation by the two young men at the traffic lights.
Note the three groups of people in the shot (shots work better with odd numbers) and a very acute triangle in the positioning , taking the eye into and around the frame
Edited in rawtherapee with an Ilford Delta 100 film emulation
Thanks to all my 365 friends for the continued and long term support
Congratulations Phil!! and thank you for your comments along the way. Taking street shots is not really my thing but your comments above about groups of people and placements is really interesting. Here's to the next year!
@Cherrill thanks cherrill, if i'd done a letterbox and cropped the traffic lights out along the horizontal , the three's would work much better , but i think i might have been pushing it slightly to get to a really small letterbox !
Well done Phil & looking back on your first photo I am impressed, my first one is rubbish! I am five days behind you, how time flies!
I think you are a very good people watcher, you always have a little observation we may have missed! I think the traffic lights have to stay, all part of the picture! I see your pavements are as bad as ours, it's a wonder someone doesn't go flying. Lancaster was dreadful with moving paving slabs & uneven surfaces, must be cheaper to,pay compensation that repair them! Onwards for year six!
@quietpurplehaze thanks haze, I am a few days in front of Pat and a few behind Judith @happypat@judithg but there are a few stalwarts who have been here longer :)
@happypat many thanks Pat, the five years has flown by, i look forward to seeing your images into your year SIX :)
Congratulations, Phil. Your first one turned out pretty well too. I haven't been around very long, but I've really enjoyed seeing (and reading) your stuff:)
Well done, Phil. I will be completing my 5th year in exactly a fortnight's time. This is a great site for those who love photography. I'm very happy to be following you.
Thanks for explaining the shot. I agree with you about the three groups of people and the way they are positioned. The two young men, to me, seem undecided on what to do next
Congratulations! What an accomplishment!! Great street shot..you are so good at these. Nice lines and comp in this shot. I like the various activities of the people in the scene.
