Backlit Poppy by phil_howcroft

Backlit Poppy

This is a poppy in our garden backlit by the summer sun.

We grew the poppy from seeds (a long story - they were meant to be ladybird poppies).

I thought I might return and photograph the poppy later in the day when the sun had dropped a little more. However, two hours later the petals had dropped off. Such is the delicate nature of these beautiful flowers.

I quite like this :)

Gorgeous colour - much nicer than the just red ones, that I have!

@maggiemae thanks maggie, it is the backlit sun that has produced the colours, the red petals are so slim and almost transparent !

Very nice capture and I like the pov. Poppies are not popular for growing here. The only poppies I know of grow by themselves as wild flowers.
