Saturday Night and Sunday Morning by phil_howcroft

Saturday Night and Sunday Morning

While photographing Sneinton Market , last Sunday, for one of my stranger friends, I couldn't help but notice this bottle of cider, left over from Saturday night.

Hence the title "Saturday Night and Sunday Morning", which for those of you who don't know is a classic film , from the novel of the same name by Alan Sillitoe (Nottingham Author) set in a Nottingham factory, Arthur Seaton the main character (played by Bolton actor Albert Finney) works in a mindless haze, but his weekends are even more muddled due to his love affairs and his alcohol problem.

Perhaps this was more "Cider with Rosie" !!!

Oh and there is a Nottingham tram named Alan Sillitoe.
A lovely title and a great minimalistic image -- yes Phil , some of us are old enough to remember the film . when films were worth watching !

Haha - I suspect more Sillitoe than Laurie Lee

Cider with Rosie gets my vote! I taught English Re-takes at college and used this book which I loved. The students HATED it - what hard work it all was. I like the stark simplicity of your shot.

Oh yes I remember that film, it was thought quite risqué in its day, a bit like Lady Chatterly! You well I think the place is very tidy for a Sunday morning, one little bottle, you are excellent inhabitants in Sneinton!

This happens everywhere after the Saturday night out especially with youngsters. Love the shot and I haven't heard of the film.

P.s Carving out my little corner in Flickr - how vast it is! I am enjoying it. Decided to carry on with my strangers' project on here ( and past 100 when I reach it!) but have also started anew in The Human Family etc on Flickr.

@quietpurplehaze yes flickr is vast. Some awesome photographers there though. Takes time to carve that corner too. Good luck 😀
