The Brian Clough Statue in Nottingham is known as speakers corner in the city.
Rather unusually, I have only used it once as a location for my strangers project.
I had a walk around the city in the rain this morning looking for a potential stranger. My usual haunts of Hockley and the Lace Market were very quite, so I decided to have a walk to speakers corner before meeting my wife for lunch.
Meet, Bronwyn who was just setting up for the "NHS IN CRISIS - DAY OF PROTEST"
Bronwyn runs a Socialist Choir and was about to conduct.
The choir group is known as The Nottingham Clarion Choice and Brownwyn told me they meet every Sunday in Sherwood. To quote from their website ....
"We are an open and inclusive choir that sings songs of celebration, protest and hope.
We sing to support groups and organisations campaigning for democratic change, social justice, human rights and environmental protection.
We perform at gatherings, demonstrations, festivals, concerts, rallies, vigils and celebrations across Britain.
We join with other choirs and communities that share our philosophy of social justice and equality
We are a part of the Campaigning Choirs Network"
When I asked where they met Bronwyn asked me if I wanted to join the choir.
Bronwyn suggested that I photograph her alongside Brian Clough (probably because Brian, as well as being a superb football manager, was a man of the people and a socialist).
It was raining quite a bit when I took the picture (it has rained all day) and if you view large you can see the rain against Cloughie's face)
I helped Bronwyn down from the statue plinth, shook her hand and gave her one of my little cards.
Thanks for being stranger 119 Bronwyn, it was nice to meet you and I wish you luck with your campaigning and choir.
