It was Sherwood Open Gardens today. Open Gardens is when people open up their gardens to the public to raise money for charity. They are always great events for garden lovers.
Sherwood is an area of Nottingham approximately 1.5 miles north of the city centre.
Derrick had opened up his organic cottage garden as part of the scheme. It' was a car park until about the year 2000.
I struck up a conversation with Derrick and admired a little whippet stone ornament he had in his garden.
Derrick told me he really liked both greyhounds and whippets and the ornament was a birthday gift for him. We then had a long conversation about whippets.
As you can see from Grahams clothing ,it was actually poor weather for June . It rained for several periods of the day and the temperature was quite cold and windy.
Derrick and his wife had set up a cold drinks stall, but told me that they had not sold any because of the poor weather
I asked Derrick for a photo and asked him if he would stand by his mature borders.
Thanks for being stranger number 169 Derrick, I hope you enjoyed opening up your garden to the public.

Robin Hood country! Poor gardeners....lousy weather here too! This is a lovely photo of him Phil, particularly good against the dark green foliage. Nice bit of bokeh too!
A great portrait capture of this gentle gentleman with an honest face and smile. Weather here is the opposite. Yesterday was 37C and today feels as hot as yestetday. Harsh sunshine, too.
