I've heard people call them my three O'clock ears or even quarter past twelve ears ! I think they are part of my charm , my character. As you know, whippets, lurchers , Italian Greyhounds can all prick our ears up in this manner. My Human Mum laughs at me sometimes because my left ear doesn't get fully upright , but she knows if I see a pussy cat or a furry squirrel they both go upright !
I was in the garden listening to my Human Mum get ready for work. Being a whippet I like to know what's happening in our house. Even when I am asleep I'm still alert and aware what is happening. Never underestimate what we know.
My Dad was sat on the floor of the kitchen by the door and grabbed this shot. For the technical among you (and I know some of my Dad's photography friends follow my Insta ), this was shot with at f4 with a vintage Fujicon 55mm f1.8 lens. It really pops, he muttered something about it having EBC , "electronic beam coating" on the glass, would you believe it !
What big eyes Ruby has....she looks lovely! Doesn’t she wear a collar at home? It reminded me when I saw this photo that all dogs have to be registered in NZ & have a tag on their collars to be worn at all times. Brian’s old dog Scruff which they inherited has a good few tags on his collar, one for each year I suppose micro chipping works well here but it’s not compulsory sadly.
Haha what a great narrative by a whippet! And his human dad was happy enough to take this fabulous shot of him. By the way, I have never asked - is it a he or a she?
Thanks evryone for your lovely comments on Ruby's photo . Ruby too thanks you for all the lovely words you say about her !
Pat , we take Ruby's collar off at home :)
