100 Strangers : Round 3 : No. 256 : Martyn, Jerry and Rob
On Tuesday we had our first Arnold and District Camera Club meet since February 2020. Five of us, Dave, Ray, Marlies, Peter, myself (and my little whippet Ruby) met up met at Attenborough Nature Reserve for a socially distanced walk and shoot around the reserve.
Attenborough Nature Reserve is owned and managed by Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust.
It wasn’t the best day from a lighting point of view, but it was good to be out and about with members from our club.
Anyway as we walked around the gravel pits and the side of the River Trent, a group of 3 men walked by us, one of them making a fuss of Ruby.
Later on during the walk, we met up with the group again, they were sat on a bench having a chat. I thought there was a potential stranger photo and story, so I introduced myself and my project and asked if they would sit for me (well as you can see they were already sitting !!!)
Meet from left to right in the photo
“Martyn with a Y”
“Jerry with a J”
“Rob with a B”
When I asked them how they knew each other they told me they were brothers and were meeting up for the first time since lockdown. I asked if they were all retired and all were apart from Jerry, who was “working his way towards it”. I asked if they were sat in age order (they weren’t) !
I was with Peter when I was shooting the photo and when we were discussing the photo over our picnic lunch, Peter thought Rob said he was the eldest, although I thought is was Martyn, but I will go with Peter’s thought’s as I was busy shooting and talking, while Peter held Ruby’s lead.
That’s it really, I gave Rob a contact card and told him to contact me for copies of the photo. I told them it would be a good photo, you can judge for yourself if I was right.
@quietpurplehaze thanks haze , the rx100m7 is proving to be a great camera . It was nice to take it around the nature reserve in my pocket while everyone else lugged massive DSLRs with them . The hides were shut so no need for long zooms
A terrific capture of them three together after so many months of lockdown. Tomorrow I get my second Covid injection and hope to start going out and meet friends every now and then.
I have heard the quality of the rx100's photos reviewed as equivalent to those from dslrs.
