I was testing my new vintage lens, my Jupiter 8, last week. I was doing some street photography and was taking pictures of a local cafe from across the road.
As I was taking pictures, a couple of customers, who were sat outside the cafe, waved and posed to me from across the street. After I’d took the photos I crossed the road to introduce myself and my little whippet Ruby to them.
Meet Joyce who was dining with her sister Margaret at EJ’s Diner. Joyce and Margaret were two mature sisters.
“Hi, I am an amateur photographer, I do street photography, thanks for allowing me to take your photo. You are only small in the frame because I was some distance from you. How was your meal?”
“We’ve just had a bacon sandwich and mug of tea
“Was it good?”
“Yes, but there was a bit too much fat on my bacon, I am not too keen on the the fat”
“Do you eat here often?”
“No we are not from Arnold, we are from Top Valley”
“Ahhhh did you come on the 89 bus?”
“Yes we did, it goes all around the houses to get here”
“Are you from Arnold”
“Yes I am , from just up the road, I am taking my whippet a walk”
“He’s good isn’t he?”
“Yes she is, she’s a lady actually, very gentle and kind, getting on a little”
I then ask Joyce and her sister for photos for my project. I am always a little cautious when I photograph mature people as I don’t want to mislead them or take advantage, but Joyce and her sister Margaret were both alert and on top form. I put my Jupiter 8 away and got out my Sony RX100 VII to take the photos.
“Yes of course you can, I’d have flashed you some legs if I was in my Teens” both sisters roar with laughter, I say nothing !!!
Joyce posed with her mug of tea and also without it. I quite liked the shot shown as Joyce has a cheeky look.
I thanked her for the photos and then went on to take some photos of her sister, Margaret
