This is a selfie shot with my latest vintage lens. A 50 years old, Jupiter 9 , 85mm f2 lens, manufactured in 1971 at the LZOS factory (Lytkarino Zavod Optychisovo Sticklo), Russia
It is quite a classic and much sought after lens and is a copy of the Zeiss Sonnar 85mm 2.0. The original design was by Ludwig Bertele all the way back in 1932.
At 85mm it is a perfect portrait lens and in the right hands can produce beautiful portraits. Not that my portrait can be described as beautiful , but the lens creates lovely bokeh and is remarkably sharp at f2,
I'm going to try and get some street strangers with it over the next few days.
I am quite excited about using the lens. Quite sad don't you think? A sixty something bloke getting excited about a 50 year old lens. I am easily excited
@bkbinthecity @pdulis @marlboromaam Thank you everyone for a great set of comments
@jackies365 it's quite compact in design , all metal , so does weigh a little :)
