I have mentioned before that Arnold has a brand new shiny, sparkling market place, AMP (Arnold Market Place). The public space also has some new retail units, one of which is, Taste First, a wine bar offering wine tasting and sampling.
I nipped into the bar on Wednesday afternoon, to ask about the business and the events they hold ‘in house’. I spoke to the owner James and his colleague Chris. I asked if the in house events, paired the wine with gluten free nibbles as my wife is coeliac. James said that if we gave them notice, they could arrange for the nibbles to be gluten free. They work closely with the deli’ next door, so didn’t envisage a problem.
As I was chatting I told Chris and James, that I was an amateur photographer and asked if one of them would be a stranger for my project. James said he doesn’t do photos, but Chris was a willing volunteer. There is a big mural on one of the walls of the bar, a Tuscan landscape of trees and vineyards.
I had a vintage lens on my Sony A6000, a Yashica 50mm f1.7 lens. A Japanese lens, which some people on various geeky internet forums say was manufactured with Zeiss glass (although some people say that is not so). Regardless of whether the glass is Zeiss or not, it takes a great photo, this is shot at F2.8
I told Chris and James, we would visit them in the near future, as it is important to support local businesses.
I like the almost-smile; Chris looks as if he might have a good sense of humour.
I can see why you opted to keep this one in colour - the backdrop works well with the colours of Chris's clothes (and also helps tell the story). As always, fab portrait and interesting narrative. You do a great job of proving that so-called ordinary people are interesting.
@marlboromaam Mags, thanks so much , always appreciate your words :)
@dulciknit thanks Alison , that's a lovely comment, everybody has a story , it is amazing what some people tell you with a few leading questions , it is just nice to connect with people
@365nick cheers Nick thank you for your visit and kind comment, the vintage lens has a real glow to it. I'm a bit of a geek when it comes to old lenses !
