From The Archive : Duck Park : Spring 1988

I always struggle a bit for new content in January, so here is a shot from the archive.

This is my daughter Kirsty and me, probably spring 1988 (I'd be 30 years old approaching 31 at the time)

Where we are stood is now railings, paving and a little cafe too.

This was a colour scan of the negative that I've made black and white , because as you know I love black and white.

This would have been shot with my Olympus OM20 and Zuiko 50mm f1.8 lens. I still use the combo' today to shoot film
Nice looking young man and little young lady! Great b&w!

How wonderful this is. All that hair!! You need to recreate this shot as close as possible.

I love this. Your expression is that of a proud, happy young dad (who has a firm hold on his beautiful daughter so she doesn't fall in the water!)

Still recognisable Phil, main difference being the hair colour, which affects all of us at some point! A lovely memory shot.

I recognised you straight away, very nice shot.

What a lovely old photo, and great shot of you both. We are of similar ages. I'd have been approaching 28 in Spring 1988.

A harness, such a sensible thing & you never see them being used these days! I can see where your daughters get their striking looks from!

@kjarn Kathy I have a cheap lightpad ( about £20 from Amazon ) , the type artists use . I place the negatives on the lightpad , photograph them with my camera and then edit the photos turning the negative into a positive ( one click ) . I can make any minor adjustments to colours light etc. while editing the photo . Does that make sense , really easy . The quality of the photo obviously depends on the quality of the original negative

@phil_howcroft This info could be valuable to me. I have a great many B&W negs, inherited from my parents. I wonder if one of these lightboxes could help decide which may be worth getting developed ?

Thanks Phil, it makes sense but sounds awfully complicated to me. I think I'll look for some sort of machine that will do it for me
